Ok.

So viele Fragen.

He. Aymara baut auf ternärer Logik auf?
Vergesst Linguistic Annotation...

It's not like you have to listen to the same stuff over and over again. I think most people will leave at some point when discussion of their relevant classes/topics is over...

Only the AS-Erstis are going to attend the second meeting. That's why someone (sigh, I'll do it, if nobody else wants to) should go there and announce the Fachschaft & Forums as well as our 'unofficial' meeting in the pub. I'll probably have to be there anyways + we really need someone from the Fachschaft to hold the GenLing people's hands - the "Fachschaft AS" is indeed more of a Fachschaft ISCL. Anna is our only AS student (and not even here anymore...), we should try to change that.

New schedule for ISCL and GenLing is on line.

http://www2.sfs.uni-tuebingen.de/Lehrveranstaltungen/

I'm not much of a designer, so it's  ugly, but it gets the job done. Additions, corrections: PM or e-mail me!

PS: Darn, I just had a look at Germanistik's and Anglistik's 'Vorlesungsverzeichnis' - they're like... 5 orders of magnitude more offerings for general Linguistics than here, but they all sound booooooooooriiiing... + they don't fit in such a neat & nice timetable. (Actually, my layout algorithm would be able to do that, I think)

Hey, why did we forget about that 'let's meet all in a pub' announcement? I'm currently getting all sorts of 'will there be some meeting?' - mails (OK, ONE girl has asked me about it, but that's already a rather large percentage...)

Are you saying you're already corresponding with the new students? Well, splendid! Go ahead and invite them to the forum already. :D
Well, sort of. I met one of them recently - he was in the first floor asking for a KVV. And some seem to find e-mail on the web-server and e-mail me some questions. It took me four days to answer though, because I don't check my pennie-account regularly. Well, now that someone is looking for me, I will do so more often. I forwarded the Fachschaft's e-mail address and forum-website-address as well.

shall I announce the Pub as well?

Sure thing.
OK... just remind me.

Bierkeller, Unckel or Saints&Scholars?

It's not as if I'll be there, but Bierkeller seems okay - you can take the new CLers there right after the meeting...

Why won't you be there? Are you busy? You gotta have an excuse... It'll be really embarrassing if we aren't the last to leave there (or even outnumbered!), because, after all, we're the Fachschaft!

Aleks!!! I'm glad I'm neither your mother nor your girlfriend!  :D
So is your boyfriend, and supposedly your mum, too.

Hey, why did we forget about that 'let's meet all in a pub' announcement? I'm currently getting all sorts of 'will there be some meeting?' - mails (OK, ONE girl has asked me about it, but that's already a rather large percentage...) and if nothing else, our immatriculation-numbers permit a certain familiarity among students. We should go establish that thing to make the SfS a brighter place.

So, uhm... I'm gonna announce the Forums already at the meeting, shall I announce the Pub as well? BTW, which pub? Bierkeller, Unckel or Saints&Scholars? I'm against Unckel as it's expensive - so is Saints&Scholars, but nobody can miss it from here - Bierkeller is a bit... well... a cellar, and harder to find, especially for the folks new to Tübingen, but not that expensive...

Suggestions? STFUs?

Shall we already try to settle on a date for the party? Or shall we wait and see and drink a cup of tea?

Johannes, verdammt, ich hätte mir meinen also doch stehen lassen sollen. Naja, jetzt isser wech.

What about the Linguists? Their meeting starts 18 c.t. I suggest that someone goes there (Me?) and announces the at least the pub and the forums - remember: the linguists are probably not going to visit our meeting, but only theirs.

... I HATE WEB PAGES! ... *sigh*, let's go back to work.

Hubert has kindly donated the rest of his party's supplies to the Fachschaft for an 'Ersti'-Party. About 15 liters of Juice, half a case of beer and some wine or similar.

I suggest that we announce the Forum on the official meeting on 15th of October and the Mailing list on the party/in classes. The ML is not official, that's what I like about it.

Good idea. Can you do the announcement, Aleks?
OK. I promise to shave myself for that. Haven't done so in a week...

BTW. thanks very much, Niels, for maintaining it, it's a great idea.

How  about setting up such a list Germany-wide for Computational Linguists? Or maybe even beyond Germany's borders... a CompLing list - with the division into two sections talk/stud. I really like that idea, we'll just have to find a server.

Wegen der Syntaxstelle: was soll man sagen. Es gibt jetzt insgesamt drei Bachelor-Kurse: 1., 3. und 5. Semester. Semester. Was ist mit letzteren? Oder denen im 1. Master-Semester?

Small talk / Open Source Search Engine
« on: 2007-07-31 12:31:22 »
I just stumbled across this article on /.. Seems Wikia is finally up to the challange to create an open source search engine - not that it didn't exist without it. Indeed, Grub has been around for quite a while, but it was pretty dead.

Now all we can do is to hope that it won't be another brain damaged project and will actually work. It's about time a p2p open source search engine would pop up.

Wow, so much work on a nice post by a person who's gonna leave anyways ;)

It's all beginning to sound like a real apocalypse by now, I just hope it won't be one. As I'll probably be leaving for good after next year most of this will barely scratch me, but I'm feeling sorry for the SfS because it's just such a nice place after all. Seems as those next years are going to be hollow years for the SfS - I myself will probably want to fill them with learning Hindi and probably Persian, Sanskrit or Arabic and hopefully some interesting seminars about machine learning or even better, AI programming. Unfortunately Tübingen seems to be not the right spot if you're looking for the latter - though it's doing extremely well on the former. I wonder how Indologie are keeping there necks dry as their student numbers are even smaller than ours. By the way, how many are left from our semester? Seven? Eight?

And has anybody heard about the amount of Bachelor applicants for next semester? I heard of a ridiculously small number which I'm ashamed to tell.

To answer a Johannes' question from another thread where it's offtopic:

And does anybody know of a nice course on neural networks and/or AI programming and other such weird things in Tübingen? I'm even willing to firm my grasp of LISP ;) Just as long as someone's gonna tell me something about smart machines...

Ah, and by the way: there's a "Einführung in Rechtswissenschaften" at the InfoKog-faculty.

Maybe we should just gather interesting alternatives to our courses in other faculties here. Go ahead :)
